Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Health Communications I have expertise conducting qualitative studies that incorporate textual analysis, in-depth interviews, and focus groups. I also lead community engaged projects that involve oral histories, ethnographic methods, and organizing community events. My research focus areas include digital and traditional media, crisis communication, and popular culture.

Alamir Novin, Ph.D. was a member of one of the only Canadian research teams studying science media models using data science. He built software to facilitate these models and tested them on both scientists and science journalists. The experiments yielded positive results and he expanded his research into information science and human-computer interactions at the University of British Columbia.

He’s written or edited several books about major issues and concerns regarding the uses and effects of advertising on professional practice and culture. His research has appeared in a variety of journals including Journal of Advertising, Journal of Current Issues and Research in Advertising, and Journal of Communication.
