Professor Wang's recent research focuses on developing computational algorithms and software tools for (1) understanding the natural images or image sequences by extracting perceptually salient structures, (2) constructing statistical shape models for 2D/3D anatomic structures, (3) automatically and/or interactively segmenting structures of interest from various MR and CT images, and (4) object detection and recognition.

My research lab currently has (a) two Dell Precision T7400 Workstations, each with two 2.0GHz 64bit Quad-Core Xeon CPUs and 8G SDRAM, (b) three Dell Precision 690n workstations, each with two 2.33GHz Dual-Core Xeon CPUs and 8G RAM (c) four Dell Precision 650 Workstations, each with two 3.0GHz Xeon CPUs and 2G RAM (d) one Dell PowerEdge 2900 server with two 2.8GHz Xeon CPUs and 2G RAM, and 400G disk (RAID), (e) two Dell OptiPlex 745 Minitower computers, each with a Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 CPU(2.16GHz) and 2G RAM, (f) one Apple Mac Pro Workstation, with two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Xeon CPUs and 10G SDRAM, (g) one NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 graphics card for running code written for the GPU, and (g) one ceiling-mounted Dell 2400MP DLP projector for research meetings.
