Cox, Ron

Dean

My research efforts have focused on South Carolina’s efforts to end racial desegregation in the late 20th century, with a particular focus on how the state’s power structure (i.e., the political and economic “elite”) responded to the demands and allowed the Palmetto State to accommodate racial change without much of the violence, bloodshed, and chaos that engulfed many other Deep South states.
