Melinda Merrell's research interests include the delivery of health care in U.S. rural communities, with specific focus areas of rural hospital closures and emergency medicine. She also has an interest in the intersection of social determinants of health and health-seeking behaviors among rural populations. Her other areas of expertise are in community health development, program planning and evaluation, and non-profit management.
