Shah, Payal

Associate Professor

I conduct research at the intersection of education, gender, culture, and society. I am an ethnographer and sociologist of education and have worked principally on the issues of education policy and forms of empowerment amongst low caste adolescent girls in rural India. In my research, I strive to provide insight into the socio-cultural and historical forces that both shape and perpetuate the marginalization of adolescent girls.
