Dr. Hein's work focuses on improving LGBTQ health through federal health policy. He accomplishes this through his professional service with healthcare organizations. He is co-chair of the LGBTQ Expert Panel in the American Academy of Nursing, serves on the Diversity and Inclusion committee, on the Board of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBT Equality and on the Advisory Board of the Harriet Hancock LGBT Center locally in Columbia, SC. .
