Dr. Albrecht's research interests include: HIV, AIDS, viral kinetics in various compartments, immune reconstitution with associated clinical syndromes, metabolic complications of HIV infection and antiretroviral therapy, study of the lymphatic system in HIV disease, opportunistic infection in HIV infection and other immunodeficiency syndromes microsporidiosis, non-tuberculous mycobacteria, gastrointestinal infections, antibiotics and antifungal medication.

- Estonia: My role in this grant is education of armed forces and public health providers ("Train the trainers") regarding various infectious diseases with emphasis on HIV and STDs (project lead: David Parker, PhD). Germany: Did all my education in Germany, practiced Medicine in Hamburg, among other things was Director of German AIDS Clinical Trial Group.
