Dr. Heiney's program of research has focused on group interventions for cancer patients and their families. Currently she is funded by the National Cancer Institute for the project, Teleconference Group: Breast Cancer in African Americans (STORY). She is also interested in recruitment of minorities, especially African Americans into research studies. Her publications describe her clinical and research work in the field of psychosocial oncology.
