Smith, Erik Michael
Research Associate Professor
My interests broadly focus on the ecology and biogeochemistry of the coastal zone. I am particularly interested in how changes to the landscape, including those associated with local-scale urban development as well as larger-scale climate changes, affect the transport and transformations of carbon and nutrients in aquatic environments. The goal of much of my research is to support improved management of the ecosystems that sustain healthy coastal communities and economies.
