Simmons, Kimberly Eison

Associate Professor

Kimberly Simmons is Director of the Latin American Studies Program and holds dual appointments in the departments of Anthropology and African American Studies at the University of South Carolina. She has conducted research in the Dominican Republic that has focused on the cultural construction of gender and female identity (for the MA) as well as issues of racial-national identity formation and competing discourses surrounding Dominicanness in terms of race/color and racial/color identities.
