Dr. Erik Michael Smith Research Associate Professor	Coastal and estuarine ecology, Biogeochemistry, Carbon and nutrient cycling	My interests broadly focus on the ecology and biogeochemistry of the coastal zone. I am particularly interested in how changes to the landscape, including those associated with local-scale urban development as well as larger-scale climate changes, affect the transport and transformations of carbon and nutrients in aquatic environments. The goal of much of my research is to support improved management of the ecosystems that sustain healthy coastal communities and economies.
William Haywood Strosnider Associate Professor	characterizing water quality issues and advancing sustainable solutions to restore ecosystems	Dr. William Strosnider is an ecological engineer orientated towards applied biogeochemistry. My focus has been characterizing water quality issues and advancing sustainable solutions to restore ecosystems and safeguard human health, often in international contexts. This has generally entailed creating settings for naturally occurring biogeochemical processes to proceed optimally (e.g., floating treatment wetlands, bioreactors, stormwater wetlands).
