Toriah Caldwell

Clinical Assistant Professor

Ms. Caldwell received her Masters of Nursing in 1989 from the University of South Carolina and her Bachelors of Nursing from Lander College in 1987. She is a certified ANCC Family Nurse Practitioner. Assisted in creating EBP Protocol for performing muscle biopsies on human subjects 2008 Research in Collaboration with the School of Public Health/Co-investigator: Muscle Biopsy Tissue Determinants in HIV Persons. Professor Cheryl Mele

Clinical Associate Professor

Cheryl Mele is a pediatric nurse practitioner certified in acute, primary and neonatal care. She is from the northeastern United States, and most recently worked at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as a nurse practitioner in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. Mele also worked at Drexel University and Seaton Hall University as the director of acute and pediatric nurse practitioner programs for both schools.

Dr. Sheryl Mitchell

Sheryl Mitchell, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, ACNP-BC received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2008 from the University of South Carolina and is an active member of South Carolina Nurses Association (SCNA). She is board certified as a family nurse practitioner and an acute care nurse practitioner.

Dr. Katherine K Chappell

Clinical Professor

Child Maltreatment, General Pediatrics, Experiential Learning, Social determinants of health, health equity Dr. Chappell is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with clinical background in child maltreatment/forensics, pediatric intensive care, and camp nursing. Research and program development interest areas are child abuse intervention and recognition; pediatric development and impact on care; family support; children with special healthcare needs; inclusive resources for families; autism and protective factors; social determinants of health and experiential learning.
Community Engaged Research, Patient Centered Care, Cardiovascular Risk Reduction, Health Disparities Dr. Andrews is a National Institutes of Health-funded investigator for multiple community trials targeting cardiovascular risk reduction and tobacco control. With her expertise on community based participatory research (CBPR), she is leading efforts to build capacity for CBPR among academic and community partners in the Southeastern U.S. region. She has authored over 200 publications and abstracts.

Dr. Carolyn S. Harmon

Clinical Professor

Nursing Dr. Harmon is a healthcare leader, board-certified informatics nurse, and Six Sigma Green Belt. She has started numerous academic nursing programs, acquired initial CCNE accreditation, and is currently working on the approval of the state Board of Nursing for a new pre-licensure nursing program.

Victoria A Hollingsworth

Clinical Associate Professor

Nursing Dr. Hollingsworth's current area of research is focused on the utilization of facility-based and WHO-recommended pain management protocols for pediatrics and the adherence and effectiveness of these protocols for pediatric sickle cell anemia patients.
Nursing Dr. Pinto's research interests focus on the development of theoretically-based exercise interventions for adults, and in promoting healthy behaviors among cancer survivors with a special emphasis on exercise promotion among cancer survivors. As Principal Investigator, she has received funding from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, National Institute on Aging, National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Ann D. Scott

Clinical Associate Professor

Nursing Professor Scott received her Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from Clemson University in 1987. She completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing through the University of Virginia in 1994. Her Master's Degree in Nursing focused on Adult Critical Care with a focus in cardiovascular nursing as a clinical specialist. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at the University of South Carolina with a focus on the Nurse Executive track.

Alicia Ribar

nutritional interventions in minority children and vulnerable populations, pedagogical approaches in educational delivery and design Dr. Alicia K. Ribar, has practiced professional nursing for 30 years. She began her career with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Toledo, Medical College of Ohio, and. completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Wright State University becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is recognized as an Advance Practice Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
