MUVE provides a platform for students to engage in self-directed experiential learning with interactive activities that develop cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills in undergraduate students in readiness for clinical practice. Effective learning comes from immersing oneself in environments that are engaging and allows the student to construct new knowledge and skills.

Vera Bratnichenko

Instructor

Miss Bratnichenko started her career as a nurse in 2006 as an LPN and ultimately graduated with a MSN from Walden University in 2013. Her nursing experience includes bedside med-surg (surgical, oncology, trauma), home health and professional development in an acute care setting. She currently teaches in the undergraduate nursing program and coordinates the nursing practicum course in the first semester. She also coordinates the INSPIRE program that facilitates nursing student retention.

Nursing Logan Camp-Spivey graduated with a BSN from Clemson University and an MSN from Gardner-Webb University. Her nursing experience includes critical-care nursing and school nursing. Her primary responsibility is teaching current and future nursing students in the Mary Black School of Nursing at the University of South Carolina Upstate. Her research interests center on prevention strategies and treatment options for childhood obesity.

Nursing Tamara is an instructor in the University of South Carolina Upstate’s Mary Black School of Nursing; her primary responsibilities include teaching child-health nursing. She also received her post-master’s certification in advanced practice from the University of South Carolina Columbia. Nursing Ryan graduated from the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2006, earned a MSN from Benedictine University, a post-master’s certificate from Gardner-Webb University, and is current working on a Ph.D. from Mercer University. Her primary research interest involves increasing diversity in the nursing workforce and student success in undergraduate nursing programs. Ryan began working at Mary Black School of Nursing in 2012, teaching in the undergraduate nursing program.

Nursing Latasha began teaching at the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2014 and is a full-time faculty clinical nursing instructor. She teaches Health Alterations I and II to nursing students, and also teaches the Advanced Cardiac Life Support course to senior nursing students. Latasha served in the Army Reserves for five years, during which time she graduated cum laude from USC Upstate with a BSN in 2006. She began her nursing career at the Spartanburg Medical Center as a staff registered nurse.

Her medical career began as a registered respiratory therapist in 1999 and a registered nurse in 2005. She obtained a master’s degree in Nursing Leadership & Management from Walden University in 2012, received a post-master’s degree as a nurse practitioner in 2015, and a Doctor of Nursing practice degree in nurse executive leadership fromthe University of South Carolina-Columbia in 2020

Nursing Lisa graduated with her associate’s in nursing from Greenville Technical College in 1994 and spent several years working in outpatient dialysis, medical-surgical care, and home health. In 2005, she enrolled in University of Phoenix and earned her BSN and MSN degrees in 2008. Lisa joined the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2008 as adjunct faculty and became full time in 2009. She is the clinical coordinator and senior instructor and she co-teaches Child Health and Senior Practicum.

She graduated from Clemson University with both a BSN and a Master of Science in family health nursing with a focus on maternal infant in the Clinical Nurse Specialist track. She has more than 38 years work experience with a combined 28 years of experience in obstetric, pediatric, and women’s-health nursing.
