Associate Professor

Anthropology Kimberly Cavanagh is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at University of South Carolina-Beaufort under the Department of Social Sciences.
sociology Her research interests involve domestic and sexual violence, race and ethnicity, feminist theory and practice, service learning and civic engagement, creative nonfiction, how sociology and memoir intersect, and the scholarship of teaching and learning with an emphasis on transformative and feminist pedagogy.

Carmen Brown Farrell, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. She completed her doctoral studies at the University of Alabama studying Experimental Psychology with a Developmental Science concentration and a Statistics Minor. She also received her MA from the University of Alabama and completed her undergraduate degree at North Carolina State University.

She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and has served as a Forensic Interviewer, Clinical Director of an industry leader substance use residential and outpatient treatment centers, and as Clinical Therapist in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Kyle Messick

Assistant Professor

Kyle J. Messick, PhD is a social psychologist specializing in psychology of religion and music culture studies. Within psychology of religion, he has researched atheism, the functions of the secular sacred, and he has studied prayer using novel approaches, including eye-tracking technology and a mock fMRI. He directed a documentary on the use of labyrinths as spiritual tools, and assisted in a second documentary exploring the spirituality of buskers in Las Vegas.

Summer Roberts, PhD is an Associate Professor and the Program Coordinator for Sociology in the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities. She also serves as the Gerontology Certificate Coordinator, direct USCB’s Quality Enhancement Program, Students Connected: Fieldwork for the Future, and oversee Graduation with Leadership Distinction in Community Engagement(GLDCE). She earned a B.S. in Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology and both her M.S. and Ph.D. in Sociology from FSU.

Dr. Dawn Monique Robinson

working with clients who have experienced microaggressions, counseling children, adolescents, and women who have experienced trauma Dr. Dawn M. Robinson completed her doctorate in Counselor Education and Practice at Georgia State University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and is certified as a Professional School Counselor and Special Education Teacher in Georgia and Texas. She has over eighteen years of experience in working with at-risk children and adolescents.
