- How will this change affect college-level indirect costs reimbursement?
- At the college-level, the Columbia campus organizations that have
been receiving a reimbursement equal to 50% of the total indirect
costs generated from contracts and grants will now receive 14% less
which is a reimbursements equal to 43% of the total. The School of Medicine, Senior, and Regional
campuses that have been receiving a reimbursement of 80% of total
indirect costs will now receive a reimbursement which is 14% less
or 69% of total.

- How will this change affect department-level indirect costs reimbursement?
- Department-level reimbursements are made at the discretion of
the Deans of their respective colleges and schools.

- Why was this change implemented?
- The President recommended and the Board of Trustees approved setting
aside 14% of total indirect cost reimbursements for the purpose
of financing new research facilities.

- When will the change take effect?
- The new indirect cost reimbursement distributions will take effect
beginning with the distributions for July 2002.

- Which grants and contracts will this affect?
- All grants and contracts
with start dates of July 1, 2002 or later will operate under this
new distribution.
- In addition, non-research grants and contracts awarded for less
than $200,000 will operate under this new distribution.
- Non-research grants and contracts awarded for more than $200,000
will continue to have all indirect dollars sent to the state.

- Will existing grants and contracts be affected?
- No. The change affects
only grants and contracts awarded after June 30, 2002.
