•This initiative could make South Carolina a repository for stem cells or a source of biomaterials or biologically developed tissue substitutes that attract new biotech firms or venture capitalists. 
•Present cell repositories currently range from small "cell banks" employing 8-10 PhD and non-PhD level employees to those offering a range of services including research that employ more than 300 individuals at the MD, PhD, MS and technical graduate levels. 
•Exploits complementary strength of the three institutions
